Moderator's Musings
Rain, rain, and more rain--and this is the middle of May.  We, being only human, are griping about the weather--again.  Now, let's go back a few years and remember the drought and our prayers for it to be broken. Then came  the "March miracle" which helped us so much followed by years of 'normal' weather.  We know that we cannot control the weather so let us rejoice and give thanks for that which is sent to us by God!

      As the end of my term as moderator nears, I need to express to all of you my gratitude for the support and service which you have given.  We, Presbyterian Women in the Presbytery of San Jose, are especially indebted to the wonderful, talented, and hard-working women who have served so faithfully on the Coordinating Team.

A Few Added Notes
 

We are experimenting with a new format for all gatherings except the Annual Meeting with 'area meetings.' We shall need input from each area for the Linkage(October, March, May) so we may stay connected.  Talk to your area chair about these plans.


The next Global Exchange will be to the Middle East from September 20-October 18, 1999.
If you are interested in applying as a participant I shall be glad to send you an application form.  Completed applications need to be sent to Judy Wilkins, Moderator of the Presbyterian Women in the Synod of the Pacific, by July 1, 1998.  Please keep in mind that the cost of the trip will be approximately $4500.00 which must be provided by the participant.  We are able to support a participant  to a very limited extent through our scholarship/leadership funds: local units may provide additional funds but the balance must be obtained by the participant.


Our annual planning retreat is scheduled for Sunday-Monday, June 7-8 at the Villa Holy Names in Los Gatos.  This meeting is open to all interested women (with a limit of twenty): the cost is sixty dollars
($60.00).  We found this to be a perfect spot to reflect on our faith   and our work--and the meals were wonderful!  If you plan to attend, please let me know by May 30 as I need to make final reservations.
