Presbytery of San Jose is seeking a Stated Clerk

The person chosen will have a genuine faith and will model Christian love in all relationships; will appreciate a full spectrum of theological points of view within the Reformed tradition; will have deep interest in the polity and structures of the Presbyterian Church (USA); will enjoy working collaboratively; will command trust and will respect confidentiality.

The work of the Stated Clerk is prescribed by the Book of Order, as well as by the policies and Standing Rules of this Presbytery.  Broadly, the Clerk facilitates and coordinates meetings of the Presbytery and other entities; communicates with constituents within and without the Presbytery; oversees training of session clerks, as well as persons needed for judicial processes; oversees judicial processes as needed; maintains records of Ministers, churches and administrative entities within the Presbytery.

This is a half time, exempt, called/elected position, and will at times include night or weekend meetings. The term of office is 5 years, beginning January 1, 2018.

The Presbytery of San Jose encompasses the counties of Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Monterey and San Benito on the mid California coast.  Its ministries include those in high tech Silicon Valley as well as agricultural areas and small towns, and several racial ethnic groups.  There are thirty congregations, two New Church Developments (Hispanic, Indonesian), 1 fellowship (Thai) and 3 New Worshiping Communities.
