From The Rev. Joey Lee, Executive Presbyter
(Message continued from e-monarch messenger, April, 2010)
I am also reminded that ALL of us are at some stage of transition. You either just went through it, are currently in it, or will soon be in it.
But rather than alarm or concern, I prefer to think of opportunity. Times of transition present a wonderful and natural opportunity to assess, imagine and dream. It is a time to take stock and evaluate. It is a time to look back and look forward. It is time to look inward individually, and look outward corporately. It is a time to renew our faith, to recommit ourselves to ministry, and “recommission” ourselves to mission.
Certainly the health of the Presbytery is the health of the individual congregations within the Presbytery. I hope you will join me in holding the following folks in prayer: the many pastor nominating committees, the Committee on Ministry, the interim and transitional pastors, the support staff, the elders, deacons and members from all the churches in transition. Read the currents, paddle hard, avoid the rocks and enjoy the ride. We look forward to what new things God will be doing in your midst.
Joey
“I am reminded of your sincere faith, a faith that lived first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice and now, I am sure, lives in you. For this reason I remind you to rekindle the gift of God that is within you through the laying on of my hands; for God did not give us a spirit of cowardice, but rather a spirit of power and of love and of self-discipline.” - 2 Timothy 1:5-7
