Documentary Film HERE!

At the heart of this documentary film (made by White Noise Productions of Seattle, WA) on "How To Make The World A Better Place," are four stories teaching skills that would help people make change with examples of normal people making a BIG difference because of  their actions: Leadership, Community Organizing. Legislative Advocacy, and Communication skills.  The music for the film was provided by JD Martin and Jan Garrett who sing the soulfull background music "Down in my Soul" with the haunting chorus "...and the whole wide world is my home."

Theme: Ordinary people can make a world of difference to each other, to the way communities work, even to make change that affects people across the state, region, nation and world. This film will tell that story in the voices of exemplary people who, though average, everyday people, have done amazing things.

Filming in the Presbytery took place on May 16-18

The San Jose Mercury News wrote about and photographed one of the interviews shot for the film. Here young Kevin Case tells his story to Ann Hedreen of White Noise Productions and also a Mercury News writer and photographer.  Read story from May 29 Mercury News.

The Rev. Steve Wilde discusses the state of the world with Kindergartners at Sunnyvale Presbyterian's Early Learning Center as White Noise Production's Rus Thompson films the moment.

San Jose artist Lynden Keith Johnson  (Stone Church of San Jose) is filmed completing his original water color of the earth that will play a part in the film.

Hopes: The hoped for outcome of this film is that it will inspire and excite people to action; (most importantly those folks who may be on the verge of taking on a new project and just need a little encouragement). Hopefully, through this encouragement and renewed energy, new, positive things will blossom.

The film will have “legs” to walk all over the country and for years to come.  We want the film to last for a long time and be shown in different parts of the country to help make positive change wherever it goes.

The film with have 4 stories with in it on skills that can help the change-maker :

  1. Community Organizing for community change (the story of how the multi-service center and permanent housing development, The Opportunity Center, came to be built in Palo Alto, CA.
  2. Leadership: How one man rounded up 350 garden-passionate people and started a movement which accomplished the goal of creating a community garden in Sunnyvale, CA.
  3. Communication Skills:  How a local Toastmasters group works on speaking skills in order to accomplish personal goals.
  4. Legislative Advocacy: How people can effectively lobby and work with their elected officials in order to ensure legilation that accomplished positive things locally, in your state, and in the country.
