"Six Great Ends of the Church"

6 Sermons for the Presbytery

   Moderator David Rodriguez began a series on the six "great ends of the Church" at the Jan. 29 Presbytery meeting, with the intent of different Presbytery speakers presenting sermons on each of the "ends" cited in the Book of Order (G-1.0200   2).  

   The ends are: proclamation of the gospel  for the salvation of humankind; the shelter, nurture, and spiritual fellowship of the children of God; the maintenance of divine worship; the preservation of the truth; the promotion of social righteousness; and the exhibition of the Kingdom of Heaven to  the  world.

   The series coincides with banners depicting the "Six Great Ends," placed in Westminster Church, that were created by Barbara Norman, master quilter and mother of Pastor Steve Norman of Westminster.
